Deep Line Interchange
A transit interchange fifty-eight metres under the city.
Tokyo, Japan · 2025–2033

A transit interchange fifty-eight metres beneath Tokyo, where a private railway group is putting one of its lines underground and crossing it with a new one. In detailed design.
A single vaulted hall, 180 metres long, brings both lines into one space, and a light well carries daylight all the way down to the platforms. The vault is designed with the tunnelling engineers so that it can be mined, not dug from the surface, keeping the streets above open throughout construction.
