Pelham Yard

A 41-storey residential tower in east London that stands over a live railway tunnel, now on site.

The tunnel’s crown is fourteen metres below the street. Rather than piling around it, we designed a 2.8-metre concrete transfer raft, its underside nine metres down, that bridges the tunnel and spreads the tower’s weight onto the clay on either side. The raft was cast in nightly pours while the trains ran. Completion is planned for 2027.
